Clear Creek Canyon is the quintessential urban crag. With Denver being very nearby it is beloved by locals for both it's proximity and variety. With so many crags of different sizes, aspects, and distances there is something for every climber living or visiting this Front Range climbing area. While the shade provided by most of the climbing areas makes this a great location to beat the heat of the summer there are a few warm spots on nice winter days but this is also a great place to learn to ice climb when winter conditions allow for it. Many of the hikes to the climbs are shorter making it a pleasant climbing spot for beginners and experts alike.

Even closer to Denver lies North Table Mountain and the views of the city and the mountains make it an obvious Front Range favorite. The dark color of the rock and the south facing aspect make this one of the most pleasant winter climbing areas in the Front Range. Because of this an early morning start is needed in the summer but it can be a good option for the spring and fall when it's too cool for climbing in Clear Creek. The steep hike to the base requires a bit of fitness but the shorter climbs and variety of styles make it a good location for beginners or those wanting to learn to lead or build anchors.
