Our objectives for the day were to understand how to plan and find good snow based on recent weather, practice avalanche awareness, explore a new area, and try some new tools (ski crampons and boot crampons). All of that was achieved thanks to our excellent guide, Bob Newcomb. We skinned to the base of Hippie Chutes and continued skinning about 3/4 of the way up. Then, we bootpacked to the top. The snow was awesome and had an amazing ride down. I enjoyed the entire day and learned a lot!
