About me
Hey, my name is Jay and I'm an AMGA certified single pitch Instructor with New River Mountain Guides! I found climbing in the gym in 2015 when I was graduating college, and as the love story goes, my life would never be the same. I worked at a climbing gym, lived in The Red River Gorge for a year, climbed my way through South America for a year, lived #vanlife while touring the American West, and have spent three winters climbing in Mexico. I’m excited to offer you my guidance, instruction, and stoke as we look to improve in climbing or just have fun and monkey around. I’ve long been a lover of the outdoors, and I look forward to sharing my passion with you, while enjoying the Best Crag in America (don't tell the Red).

We booked a 4 hour rock climbing trip and we had a really great time but we only rock climbed for 2.5 hours. I feel like we were really shortchanged on the time and didn’t get what we paid for. With three kids learning to rock climb for the first time, it would’ve been really great to have the ropes setup and we would’ve loved to be there at the climbing spot at 8 a.m. but we didn’t even get to the spot until 9 a.m. and then didn’t start climbing until after 9:30 a.m. Then our guide was packing up to leave at 11:45 a.m. $800 plus tax for what we got seems ridiculous but Jay was a great guide otherwise so th that’s the only reason I didn’t give one star. 5 stars for Jay, 1 star for the operation and value.

We had an amazing half day climbing with Jay. He was communicative leading up to our trip, told us exactly where we could meet him and was there waiting for us when we arrived. We are both newer to climbing (right around 40yo and very active), and he found the perfect climbs for us to warm up, and be challenged. The best part for me was that Jay knew exactly when to push us a little harder and not let us give up when we couldn’t see the next steps. I would absolutely recommend climbing with Mojave Guides, and Jay.
